OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF NATIONAL SECTOR STRATEGIES FOR LEATHER, SUNFLOWER OIL, COTTON TO CLOTHING AND VALUE CHAIN ROADMAP FOR PULSES WHEN: 9:30 am, Monday 2 May 2016 WHERE: Julius Nyerere International Conference Hall, Dar Es Salaam. GUEST OF HONOR: The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hon. Charles J. Mwijage (MP.) Since June 2015, the Government of Tanzania with stakeholders has been developing national sector strategies for Leather, Sunflower Oil, Cotton to Clothing, as well as a Value Chain Roadmap for Pulses. These efforts have been being supported by the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland’s Department for International Development (DFID), through the Supporting India’s Trade and Investment for Africa (SITA) Project. SITA is a Trade Related Technical Assistance project implemented by the International Trade Center of the UN, across five East African Countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda); and India The Strategies and Value Chain Roadmap reflect the ambitions of sector stakeholders and the Government of Tanzania and will guide the development of the four sectors over the next five years. The process of elaborating the Strategies and Roadmap, involved extensive stakeholder consultations in the form of wide stakeholder forums and technical meetings of appointed sector core teams, culminating in the validation of the documents by the Tanzania National Consultative Committee (TNCC) on 12th February 2016. The official launching ceremony, which will be held on 2nd May 2016 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), in Dar es Salaam starting at 09:30 hrs. On behalf of the government of Tanzania, The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hon. Charles J. Mwijage (MP.) will officiate the Launch Event.
